Enrichment Classes
Discover the Wonder of Learning Outdoors!
Step beyond the walls of the traditional classroom and into an unforgettable educational adventure! Our unique enrichment program takes place on a stunning 20-acre property near Ophir where children have the freedom to explore, play, and connect deeply with the natural world.
Here, learning is anything but ordinary. Students will develop practical life skills, engage in hands-on crafting, interact with animals, and tackle fun physical challenges that inspire confidence and resilience. Every day brings new discoveries—from shaping clay and using natural dyes, to building shelters and learning how to live off the land. We embrace the outdoors as our classroom, with age-appropriate classes designed to captivate and challenge children at every stage.
Safety is our top priority. In the event of inclement weather, children will transition to a designated sheltered area where instruction continues in a warm, secure environment.
This is more than a class—it’s a journey back to the roots of learning, where education meets adventure and nature becomes the greatest teacher.

Brief Bio
Meet Coach C – Cameron Courtney
Coach C brings energy, strength, and a whole lot of heart to everything he does. With a Master of Science in Kinesiology and certification as a Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Cameron is deeply committed to helping kids grow strong—physically, mentally, and emotionally. He also holds multiple certifications in training and health, and brings over 11 years of hands-on experience in fitness and wellness.
After serving six years in the military, Cameron found his calling working with homeschool students and has since spent four years in charter schools, helping children build confidence through movement, challenge, and play. He believes every child should learn how to take care of themselves—so they can grow into capable, compassionate leaders ready to help others.
At the farm school, Coach C leads classes in homesteading and survival, teaching practical, hands-on skills that inspire independence, resilience, and a love for the outdoors. Whether it’s fire-building, shelter-making, or animal care, he brings his adventurous spirit and deep knowledge to every lesson.
Cameron is a devoted husband and father of two, and when he’s not leading physical education or exploring the woods with students, you’ll find him trail running, working on the family homestead, or sharpening his survival techniques. A lifelong learner, Coach C is known for his kid-like enthusiasm, big laugh, and his belief in building a fun, secure, and value-driven community.
He lives by the words:
“When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.” —Dr. Seuss
With Coach C, every challenge becomes an adventure—and every child is stronger for it.
Meet Miranda – “The Misses”
Miranda is the heart of our farm school and brings a beautiful blend of care, creativity, and fun to everything she does. As a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Critical Care Nurse, she knows exactly how to keep children safe, loved, and well cared for. At the farm, her passion shines brightest in the flower gardens and the kitchen, where she shares her love for floral arranging and farm-to-table food preparation.
With a gentle spirit and joyful energy, Miranda helps create a value-packed, enriching environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive. Whether she’s teaching how to make a fresh bouquet or baking up something special with the harvest, she brings warmth, knowledge, and a whole lot of heart. With Miranda, your children are truly in great hands.
“Plant seeds of kindness, nurture with love, and watch children—and flowers—grow strong and beautiful.” – Miranda
more about the classes
Homesteading is all about self-sufficiency and what we refer to as the Thrival course. Producing your food, raising animals, preserving food, living off the grid, crafting, engineering and running a small business. With homesteading, you do it all and more. Learn about where ethical food comes from ranging from the soil to the plate! I promise you this course will be a blast and you and your children will feel more secure about what the future holds. –Satisfies some Physical, Earth, Life, Physics, Biology Education State Requirements
Survival is all about staying out of harm’s way in troubling and difficult circumstances. Learn about the skills of shelter building, water discovery/purification, fire formation, food, navigation, signaling, and more within a multitude of environments whether urban or austere. Children will also learn through practical application about leadership, teamwork, situational awareness, safety, and problem-solving through stressful times. Though this course sounds serious, students will oftentimes have more fun than any traditional classroom can offer. There will be storytelling and games throughout the course that will help foster concepts learned. -Satisfies some Physical, Earth, Life, Physics, Biology Education State Requirements
Movement & Games From ancient times to the early 1900s physical education focused on body mastery through movement in all manners, not just sports. In this course, movement is primarily taught through calisthenics which focuses on strengthening the body through body weight. Children will also work on skills that are essential to life and sports such as balance, hand-eye coordination, endurance, agility, strategy, and mobility. This class will be both fun and challenging. Fun in that children will see the benefits of positive change and experience how good it feels to move. There will also be games the early pioneers enjoyed on the prairie that are just good old-fashioned fun! The challenge will come from doing things that are meant to push them as life is difficult and worthwhile things are always difficult. -Satisfies Physical Education State Requirement EC Section 51241
Nature Craft is a joyful outdoor class where little ones become nature explorers! Each day, kids head outside to collect treasures like leaves, feathers, and sticks, then use them to make magical crafts with clay, wood, and natural dyes. They’ll learn about animals, bugs, trees, and the weather through fun games, songs, and hands-on discovery. With gentle guidance, kids use their senses to touch, smell, and see the wonders around them. It’s a safe, nurturing space where curiosity leads the way and creativity blooms. Nature Craft is all about fresh air, little hands, and big imagination!
Bootcamp is for ages 13+ is a high-energy fitness program designed to push teens to become stronger, faster, and more confident—both on and off the field. Through age-appropriate HIIT and functional fitness training, kids build endurance, strength, speed, and agility in a safe, motivating environment. It’s perfect for athletes looking to level up their game or any teen ready to take their fitness to the next level. Beyond sports, this bootcamp helps develop discipline, resilience, and a healthy mindset that lasts a lifetime. We challenge them not just to be better athletes, but better human beings—fit for sport, fit for life. -Satisfies Physical Education State Requirement EC Section 51241
Holistic Health (HS Level) is designed to give students a working knowledge of some of the most important items related to health. Food for thought, health is a journey and not a destination. -Satisfies most Health Education State Requirements
Meet Your Fury and Feathered Classmates

Meadow
Super Sweet girl who thinks she’s a dog. A2 Jersey who will give tasty milk to anyone… including a goat!
Miss Kitty, Pepper & Honey
Miss Kitty, a Nubian who is the Matriarch of all the sheep and the oldest animal on the farm. This girl is stubborn, curious and very loving.

Mable
This lovely lady is a White Chinese Goose who is extremely broody and helps keep our chickens safe. If she’s on an egg she’ll let you pet her; otherwise, she’s very elusive.
The Babas
The Babas are a collective term for the multitude of sheep we have. They got their names from my son Shepherd when he was a baby. Some are old, some are babies (lambs), but they are all Dorper sheep. You stay long enough and you may see another lamb bless the farm.

Storm
This darling is my little shadow. Any where I go she’ll be close by. At night she keeps the animals safe and she does a great job of it! Hardest worker on the farm!
The Hens
These ladies are many and we love their beautiful multi-colored eggs! We have Bardrocks, Buff Orpingtons, Lavender Orpingtons, a Naked Neck, Leghorns, Australorps, Black Copper Marans, Americanas, Olive Eggers, and many more.

The three Amigos
These Chinese Ducks go everywhere together. They were meant for meat, but they happen to be hilarious and lay lots of eggs… so we kept them! They sure do know how to make a mess though.
The Honey Bees
These little ladies are amazing workers and produce soo much honey. Still getting the hang of them but we love them! As long as you keep your cool around them, so do they! Remember to Bee Calm 😉
